Book Review: "Blood Eagle" by Craig Russell (Blogmas Day 25)

☆☆☆☆
Jan Fabel #1
Genre: Mystery
Source: Library

"The first woman had her lungs ripped out. When the same gruesome ritualistic method was used again, it was clear that the same killer was responsible. But there is no precise evidence to link the two cases, except for the tantalising email. In his first crime novel, Craig Russell introduces us to a new detective hero, Jan Fabel - half-Scottish, half-German - a man of conscience and imagination. Russell has also created a richly textured scenario where the City of Hamburg plays a central role - it is a city where the old Germany combines increasingly with the new, where gangs from Turkey and the Ukraine battle for supremacy. Blood Eagle is a violently exciting thriller and Fabel's desperate attempt to solve the case before more victims are discovered, gradually uncovers layer upon layer of intrigue. How can he track a murderer who leaves no trail, whose victims seem purposefully random and whose motive reaches far beyond greed and lust, into the darkest recesses of the human soul?" - Goodreads

Merry Christmas!
What better way to end this blogmas, than posting a review of a mystery novel, am I right?!

Once in a while I take my time and read some mystery books. As much as I would like sharing some really whimsical thoughts about them, I always find it hard to describe what they are all about. But let's give it a try, shall we?

The plot is not very different from every other mystery novel I'm afraid, but the writing style was drawing me in, so I ended up finishing this novel in less than two days. There were a lot of Norse mythology references in the book mixed up with some present-day political issues, which I really liked. The supposed gory scenes were not gory enough for me, but I will let this slide by me, since this is not a horror novel.

As far as the characters go, they were developed well enough. I did not feel particularly connected with anyone of them, but I suppose there will be some more development in the next books.

Now about the ending of the book -  I hope there will be some kind of explanation or continuation of it in the next book, because it was a little bit unsatisfying for me. For real, I closed the last page and I was like...
These are my feelings, a little bit mixed but I still really liked the book. If you enjoy reading thrillers/mystery/crime novels, give this series a try :)

Top 5 Wednesday: Series I Want to Start Next Year (Blogmas Day 23)

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by gingerreadsLainey and there is a Goodreads group where you can find a list of participants as well as Top 5 Wednesday topics.

The end of the year is near and it's time for some New Year resolutions. That's right, this Top 5 Wednesday is my first step towards me goals for 2016. The topic for this week is "Series You Want to Start Next Year" and my goal for next year will be to start and possibly finish 5 series, but only if I manage to complete 5 of my unfinished series, which are way to many. So for every finished series from my pile, I will start a new one.

The series that I'm looking forward to strat the most are:

"Eon" duology by Alison Goodman
The first book came out in 2008...You can tell I'm late, can't you? I've heard mixed things about this duology, but hey - there are dragons in it. Isn't that cool?!

"Anna" duology by Kendare Blake
I've finally bought these books this year, so next year I would love to give them a try. Hopefully these books will be horror enough for me.

"Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children" trilogy by Ransom Riggs
The last book in this trilogy came out this year, so now after the series is finished, I can finally read all of the books. I can't wait.

"Mistborn" series by Brandon Sanderson
Yep, I have yet to read this well-known series. After all the hype it's getting, I'm really hoping that the books won't disappoint me.

"Parasol Protectorate" series by Gail Carriger
Steampunk is definitely not my favorite genre and I'm having a hard time finding steampunk novels that I like. But you know what ? - Just look at these gorgeous covers. I don't even need to read the synopsis.

I know that these are some old series, but I don't really care. They are all finished and I don't have to wait for the next books the come out, so that's one of the reasons they are with top priority when it comes to starting some new series.

What were your picks for this topic? Share your Top 5 Wednesday in the comments :)

Top Ten Tuesday: Books Are Presents (Blogmas Day 22)

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

I love receiving presents and books are my favorite type. Not only do I like receiving books, but I also love choosing books as presents. Even for people who don't usually read. This week's topic is "Books I Wouldn't Mind Santa Leaving Under My Tree This Year" and limiting it down to 10 is really hard, because I there is a ton of books, that I would like not only to read, but to own, too.
I will limit this down to books I have yet to read.

"Cold" series by Narise Konohara
I have actually read "Cold Sleep" and "Cold Light" and I loved them, so of course I would like to own them, along with the third book in the series. These are yaoi novels, so they might not be your thing, but they are my guilty pleasure.

"The Kingkiller Chronicle" series by Patrick Rothfuss
I've read "The Name of the Wind" long time ago and I remember nothing, but the fact that I really liked it. I would love receiving these particular editions of the books, because they are gorgeous.

"Black Butler" series by Yana Toboso
Manga is freaking expensive, but I love this series so much. Anyone willing to spend all of his money to buy the rest of the series for me will be in my best friends list forever.

"Love Comes Softly" series by Janette Oke
I absolutely adore the movies and when I found out there are books, I immediately added them to my TBR, because I expect them to be awesome.
If you haven't watched the movies, five them a try - they are amazing!

"The Name of the Star" by Maureen Johnson
I like reading about serial killers, don't ask me why, I don't even know that myself. This is a retelling about one of my favorite serial killers - Jack the Ripper. How awesome is that?! I don't even care about the next books in the series, I just want this one.

"The Last American Vampire" by Seth Grahame-Smith
I've read "Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter" and I really liked it, so I'm looking forward to this second book. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations.

"Forbidden" by Tabitha Suzuma
I've heard mixed review about this book, but what really drawn me into it is the fact that it's about forbidden love between brother and sister. I have never read anything with incest in it, so I'm really intrigued by this one.

"Tuck Everlasting" by Natalie Babbitt
I loved the movie and I expect the book to be an emotional rollercoaster, so I would love to find it under my Christmas tree.

First off, this is a memoir and I love reading those. Second, the book deals with mental illness and this topic is my weakness. And third - gorgeous happy cover.

"The Amazing Book is Not on Fire" by Dan Howell and Phil Lester
For those of you who don't follow their channels - you should. They are hilarious. If you don't know, their channels are AmazingPhil and danisnotonfire. I've recently found them and I'm so glad I did, because they always make me smile.

Have you read any of these books? Do you find them amazing? I'll be happy to read all of your thoughts in the comments and if you share your blog post about this topic with me, I'll be sure to check it out :)

Music Monday: Sometimes listening is not enough (Blogmas Day 21)

Music Monday is created by Lauren at Always Me. Every week you choose one or two songs to share, video of the songs and your thoughts on the songs (or any other thoughts you have). More for the rules and how to participate you can find here.

I love listening to music, but I also enjoy my fair share of AMVs. This week I was watching  some of my favorites and decided to share two of them with all of you.

SPOILER! sssShawnnnn - Pizza Rolls is pretty hardcore so some of you may not be able to listen it until the end. This is actually a mashup of 53 different songs and the AMV consists of 40 different anime. I've heard this song for the first time during an anime convention and it was really catchy, so of course I had to find it on youtube. Enjoy!

If your ears start bleeding, you've been warned!

sssShawnnnn - Pizza Rolls

My second choice is Not Literally - I Ship It, because ship happens all the time, am I right? It's a parody so don't take the song too seriously. It's definitely a funny AMV to watch, so enjoy it!

Not Literally - I Ship It

And a little bonus song as a surprise. I like it so much that it became my ringtone! I find it really relaxing, so give it a try.

Flume - Warm Thoughts

If you've done Music Monday this week, share it with me. Did you enjoy any of the AMVs posted? Or at least the songs? Don't be too shocked by the first one!

Book Review: "Don’t Tell Mummy: A True Story of the Ultimate Betrayal" by Toni Maguire (Blogmas Day 20)

☆☆☆☆☆
Genre: Memoir
Source: Library

"This heart-wrenching memoir from Toni Maguire tells the deeply moving story of an idyllic childhood that masked a terrible truth. Underneath her mother's gentility and her father's roguish charm lay horrifying secrets, which eventually led to their only child's near destruction.

The first time her father made an improper advance on Toni, she was six years old. Her father warned her not to tell her mother, or anyone else, because they would blame her and wouldn't love her any more. It had to remain ‘our secret.’

When she finally built up the courage to tell her mother what had happened, she was told never to speak of the matter again. With no one to turn to, isolated and alone in rural Ireland, the abuse continued unhindered.

At fourteen Toni fell pregnant by her father, and when her state was discovered she was made to have a late abortion which almost killed her. The truth of her childhood could no longer be kept hidden but, just as her father predicted, Toni found herself judged and rejected by her family, teachers and friends. The blame and anger she was treated with only worsened when her father was sent to prison as a result of his actions. This is the compelling story of her struggle to put the ghost of her childhood to rest, and emerge ultimately triumphant." - Goodreads
This was such an emotional ride. By the middle of the book I hated not only Toni's parents, but almost every single person in. I was so infuriated by the fact that the supposed to be adults, blamed a kid for being abused. Are you kidding me? Even doctors and psychiatrists, who are supposed to be more understanding and most importantly careful, when it comes to dealing with children, who have been abused, are spreading hatred and blame toward the kid. And even have the nerve to ask her if she liked it??? What planet are you from - of course she didn't like it - are you all out of your freaking mind people?!
I'm not here to comment on the writing style, plot and character development, because this is no fiction. It is just a powerful read about something real. If you want something real and devastating, this is your read.

Dashing Through The Snow Book Tag (Blogmas Day 19)

I'm here with yet another book tag, because they are always so much fun to do. Dashing Through The Snow Book Tag was created by Astra at A Stranger's Guide to Novels and I found out about this tag from Cristina at My Tiny Obsessions, who was so kind to tag everybody.

1. Name a book you woukd like to see under the Christmas tree
All of them! Now seriously, I actually already know what books are going to be there and they are the first three books in "The Legend of Eli Monpress" series by Rachel Aaron. I found out about this series on our Christmas book fair and I really liked the premise, so when my sister asked me what I want for Christmas I decided to go with these books.

2. Name a book you'll be reading during the Christmas season
I have a December TBR and as always I won't be able to read all of the books I've planned to. I'm currently reading "Blood Eagle" by Craig Russell and when I finish it I might read "Bundori" by Laura Joh Rowland. We'll see.

3. Name your favorite Christmas movie
I've just posted about my favorite Christmas movies, but if you haven't checked that out yet, my favorite Christmas movie is definitely "Love Actually".

4. Do you like snow?
I love snow, but I hate it when it melts.

5. Name a character you would like to spend your Christmas day with
I would love to spend a whole Christmas vacation with the Weasleys. Enough said!

6. To give or receive
I love giving presents, the problem is that I'm having a hard time choosing them. Last year I surprised my boyfriend's roommates. They were gone for the holidays and when they returned they found their presents on their beds. They didn't expect this at all and seeing their surprised happy faces made me feel really good :)

7. What fictional place would you like to spend Christmas at?
Hogwarts, hands down! I mean, who wouldn't love being there for Christmas?!

8. Fondest Christmas memory?
Does the one above count? Because it is my most recent one and definitely made me feel very happy.

9. Can you say Christmas tree ten times fast in a row (pronouncing it correctly)?
After the fifth time my tongue twisted and I gave up :D

Since this is such a lovely tag, I want to tag Geraldine at Corralling Books, because she is such a sweet person.

If Christmas season is your favorite, consider yourself tagged as well! Please, share a link if you do this tag. I'll be happy to read it!

Book Review: "Edge of End" by Suren Hakobyan (Blogmas Day 18)

Disclaimer: This book was sent to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
☆☆☆☆
Genre: Paranormal
Source: Author

"Jonathan wakes up in a desert, his past wiped from his head. He’s alone having no clue who and what he is, where he has come from and where he should go. There is only one way – forward when he spots a little town in the distance.

Empty streets, old houses, the town seems abandoned. There’s no one to ask for help, there’s nowhere to go. Jonathan wanders the deserted town in search of any sign of life trying to bring his lost memories back, but odd visions haunt him from time to time. Soon Jonathan comes to the realization that he’s moments from death as absolutely evil dwells in the town seeking fresh souls. The seemingly dead town is only outwardly empty.

Grey skies, no sun, no days and no nights. The town is stuck in time. With only one entrance and one exit, but the way leading to the exit is filled with creations that Jonathan has never envisioned, even in his worst nightmares.

Who is he? Who brought him here? With a female resident – Elizabeth, Jonathan has to work his way through the horrendous town, figure out his past and find the exit." - Goodreads

First off, I want to thank the author for giving me the chance to read this amazing book. It was just what I wanted - a standalone fantasy! May I just say how hard it is to find a decent standalone fantasy novel nowadays. The book world is flooded with thousands of great fantasy series, but I just want something unique, that can be wrapped up in just one lovely read.

Now, about this story, I don't think I've ever read something about the afterlife (or the so called Limbo), but I really liked the topic. The story was interesting and very well developed. The book was full of action and there were some gory scenes for colour. The beasts were so lovely described, that I'm so sure I don't want to meet them in real live...because I will die...fast. I'll be their first prey actually.

The main characters were intriguing and not perfect, which was a really nice surprise since most of the main characters in huge part of the fantasy books out there don't seem to have any flaws and are often described as perfect by their love interests.

The writing style of the author is brilliant. Everything is described so vividly that I can imagine every single scene, I can almost put myself in the shoes of the characters and feel the struggle, which they are going through.

Overall I really liked the book and I'm really happy that I had the chance to read it. I do recommend it for people who like fantasy stories with a hint of horror.

Book Traveling Thursdays: Favorite Gift in Books (Blogmas Day 17)

The Book Traveling Thursdays meme is created by Danielle at Danielle’s Book Blog and Catia at TheGirlWhoReadTooMuch. Every week you choose a book for your blog post that fits the weekly theme (which you can find in the Goodreads group), you share why you chose that book and finally post picture of the original cover, the covers from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.

I love giving and receiving presents. Christmas is almost here and I still haven't bought any presents for my loved ones, but there is still time. Instead of wondering what will be the perfect presents for my family and friends, I came here to share with you my favorite gift in books.

I was so close to picking up "Harry Potter" again, because I would love a Weasley jumper. A definite must have for all of the fans out there.

I choose "A Game of Thrones" by George R.R. Martin, because who doesn't want direwolf puppies as a present, am I right?
Well, technically they were not a present, but they were lovely.

Original Cover:
I think it's this one, but I can be wrong. I really like it to be honest. There is a sword on it, of course I like it.

Bulgarian Covers:
They are not my favorite, but I like them. Especially the second one.

Favorite Covers:
                     1) Danish                                       2) Italian                                             3) UK

I know that the UK cover has nothing to do with the book, but it's so pretty. The Italian cover on the other hand fits the story so well and it looks so classy. As for the Danish cover - the sword is awesome,

Least Favorite Covers:
1) Hebrew                          2) Korean                        3) Russian                     4) Ukrainian

Dear publishers, what the f* were you thinking? Could this covers be any worse, because I really doubt that. The Korean cover looks like a freaking study guide. The Russian cover has too much stuff going on there. I just have no words, they are all horrendous.

Are you excited for the next season and the next book hopefully coming out next year? If you have a Book Traveling Thursdays blog post, share it in the comments. I would love to check it out :)

Top 5 Wednesday: Books to Read by the Fire (Blogmas Day 16)

Top 5 Wednesdays was created by gingerreadsLainey and there is a Goodreads group where you can find a list of participants as well as Top 5 Wednesday topics.

Winter is already upon us and Christmas is knocking on the door. It's time to share some of my favorite books, that somehow remind me of the very much loved Christmas holidays.
Let's get down to business.

“Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling
I'm not only sure that everybody expected this one as my first choice, but I'm also sure that it's on everybody's list. If there is anyone out there who says that this is not a Christmassy read, he is lying.

“A Little Princess” by Frances Hodgson Burnett
This is my all time favorite middle grade book. I've read it a dozen times and every single one of them I feel so warm inside. Feelings overdose! I have a strong desire to reread it again soon, so stay tuned for full review.

“Little Women" series by Louisa May Alcott
Christmas holidays are all about being together with your family. When I read this series, I feel like one of the sisters. The first time I've read these books was actually around Christmas, so winter brings me very nostalgic feelings regarding this series.

“Poison” by Chris Wooding
The reason for choosing this book is that it reminds me a lot of the fairy-tales I used to read when I was a child. It was a really pleasant read. a little bit creepy, but definitely worth the read.

“Обича ме, не ме обича” by Дамян Дамянов
("Loves me, loves me not" by Damyan Damyanov)
This is a little book in Bulgarian, which I really loved. It's full of poetry about love. I've read it on Valentine's day a couple of years ago and it's one of the few poetry books that I liked. Since all we need is love, this book is the perfect read, if we want a little bit of joy in our lives.

I'm really sorry that this book is not translated in any other language, but I think that other poetry books about love are also really appropriate for the holidays.

These are my top 5 books to read by the fire. What were your picks for this topic? Share your Top 5 Wednesday in the comments :)

Top Ten Tuesday: Favorite Fantasy Reads in 2015 (Blogmas Day 15)

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

Let's recommend some fantasy! This week's topic is about our favorite reads in 2015 and I've decided to narrow it down to fantasy books only! Let's see what I have in store for you, shall we?!

"The Demon Cycle" series by Peter V. Brett
This is my favorite series for this year! I love the characters, the story is epic. Nothing was missing for me! Every single book has a lot to offer and concentrates on the past of one of the main characters, as well as current events.
Just read it, ok!

"Shadowdance" series by David Dalglish
I feel that my blog is flooded with ranting about this series, but I really like it. I don't want to say anything about the story, because spoilers! What I can say is that I love the writing style of the author and although the story may not seem very original, the book draws you in and does not let go until the very end.

"The Lord of the Rings" trilogy by J.R.R. Tolkien
I know, shame on me for not reading this sooner...But I'm really happy that I've finally caved in and read this book...which is huge by the way.

"Maleficent" by Elizabeth Rudnick
I'm sure all of you've heard about the movie, which was brilliant. I loved it so much that I decided to buy the book. I must say that for a book that was based on the movie and not the other way around, this read was pretty amazing. I love it!

"The Ice Dragon" by George R.R. Martin
This is a really short middle grade fantasy book about dragons. I had some issues with it, but in the end I really, really liked it. It's full with amazing illustrations, done by Luis Royo, so if you are an artsy person, you'll definitely love this one.

"Daughter of Smoke & Bone" series by Laini Taylor
Yeah, I know I hopped on that train a little bit late. I just wanted all of the books in the series to come out before diving into this awesomeness. #HateWaiting

"Edge of End" by Suren Hakobyan
I really appreciate this book because it's a fantasy stand alone! I really liked the topic. The story was interesting. The characters were well developed. A full review for this book will be published soon (I honestly can't believe I don't have one already).

"Among Thieves" by Douglas Hulick
I don't know why but I really love books about thieves. They are so imperfect and lovely as main characters. A little bit of mischief makes the main character look so much sexy, don't you think? Is it just me?

"Neverwhere" by Neil Gaiman
I was so hesitant to read this book, because I've read Neil Geiman before and didn't really like his writing style. But I've heard only great things about this book, so I've finally read it. And I was surprised to find out how drawn I was to the story and the characters. The only thing that I did not like about this book was the ending, but it was not bad enough to ruin the book for me.

"47 Ronin" by Joan D. Vinge
This is yet another book based on a movie. I haven't watched it yet, but the book was amazing. I really liked the main character, the book was a really fast read and authors can definitely do no wrong for me when they provide me with broken main characters.

Have you read any of these books? Is your opinion about them any different? I'll be happy to read all of your thoughts in the comments and if you share your blog post about this topic with me, I'll be sure to check it out :)

Has any of you ever watched it?

6. I like playing RPG games like Aveyond, Eternal Eden and Starggazer! Currently I'm playing 3 RPGs at a time - 3 Stars of Destiny, The Princess' Heart and replaying Eternal Eden. They've taken over my life!

My favorite RPG game remains Aveyond!

If you are interested in some RPG game reviews, I'll be hapy to make some!

My Best Day Ever (Blogmas Day 13)

Yesterday was the best day of my life!!! Why you ask? Because I met Patrick Ness - one of my all time favorite authors! I was so excited and nervous that when it was finally my turn to speak with him I was a complete potato...I was fangirling so hard in my head, so processing any thought was impossible...

Nevertheless, I was so happy to finally meet him, because I've never dreamt that he'll ever come to Bulgaria. I want to thank the publishers, who invited him to our book fair! It was such a pleasure for all of his Bulgarian fans!

And can I just say, that Patrick Ness seems like such a lovely person! He was smiling all of the time and was making jokes. Meeting him was priceless!

If there are people who don't know who Patrick Ness is - he wrote some of the most unique books that I've read, such as the "Chaos Walking" series, "A Monster Calls" (are you excited about the movie, because I for sure am), "More Than This" and his most recent book "The Rest of Us Just Live Here" (which is going to be my first read for 2016, because the new year must start with a bang).

Reader Problems Tag (Blogmas Day 12)

Since I have nothing interesting to share today, I decided that a tag would be perfect. The Reader Problems Tag was created by Tiffany from About To Read YouTube channel. I was not tagged but it seems like a really fun tag to do. I have also never seen bloggers do this tag but I think it will still be a lot of fun.

1. You have 20 000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?
It's really difficult, but I go with the flow. I just pick a random book or if I have something to return to the library, I start with that.

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?
I hate not finishing books and as masochistic as it is I try to finish what I'm reading even if it's boring as fuck.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?
It depends on how many books I have left. If they are not so many, I pick up my unfinished manga series. If they are too many, I don't bother completing the challenge.

4. The covers of a series you love do not match. How do you cope?
I actually don't have a problem if the covers don't match. But if the heights are different, we have a problem. I don't like if my bookshelf is looking like a freaking bar diagram.

5. Everyone and their mother love a book you really don’t like. Who do you bond with over shared feelings?
Everyone is free to like or dislike a certain book, so if there is no one with the same opinion as me, I bond with myself :D

6. You’re reading a book and you are about to start crying in public. How do you deal?
I hate crying in public, but if there is no helping it I just try to not do it loudly...

7. A sequel of a book you loved just came out, but you’ve forgotten a lot from the prior novel. Will you re-read the book? Skip the sequel? Try to find a synopsis on Goodreads? Cry in frustration?!?!?!?
I don't see a problem here. If I loved the book, why not reread it? It would be the best thing ever!

8. You do not want anyone borrowing your books. How do you politely tell people nope when they ask?
I don't...I just can't say no to people for something like that. Huge mistake! I just have to find out how to say no to people...

9. Reading ADD. You’ve picked up and put down 5 books in the last month. How do you get over your reading slump?
First of all, I will stop reading anything! After that it's time for some RPG games or anime or movies or music...the choices are endless. I just have to stay away from books for a couple of days.

10. There are so many new books coming out that you’re dying to read! How many do you actually buy?
I buy only the ones I have money for. Depending on the month the number can be zero or 10 books.

11. After you’ve bought the new books you can’t wait to get to, how long do they sit on your shelf before you get to them?
It depends on the books. If it's something by Patrick Ness or  Peter V. Brett or anything I've been waiting for ages to come out, I will read it as soon as I finish my current read. If it's a first book in a series, I prefer waiting for some of the other books to come out first, because my memory is not that great when it comes to remembering plot lines.

This tag was quite short but I hope you enjoyed it. If you’ve done this tag please leave a link in the comments. I would love to check it out. If not, tag - you are it!

Movie Review: Victor Frankenstein (Blogmas Day 11)

Genre: Drama, Horror, Sci-Fi
Duration: 110 min
Stars: Daniel Radcliffe, James McAvoy
IMDB Rating: 6.3/10
My Rating: 5/10

"Told from Igor's perspective, we see the troubled young assistant's dark origins, his redemptive friendship with the young medical student Viktor Von Frankenstein, and become eyewitnesses to the emergence of how Frankenstein became the man - and the legend - we know today."

Well, this is something unusual for my blog, but I just couldn't resist. I was expecting great things from this movie. Sadly my expectations were too high.

First off, let's start with what I liked about this movie.
The actors did such an amazing job with the screenplay they were given. James McAvoy was the perfect lunatic. His demeanor, his manner of talking, everything was perfect. Daniel Radcliffe played his role surprisingly well. Apart from the "Harry Potter" movies, I've watched only one more movie, where he was the main character and it was a huge disappointment. I'm very happy that he didn't blew it this time.

The soundtrack and the costumes were awesome. Every song fitted the scenes perfectly and added a little bit of something to the atmosphere. The costumes - especially the gowns - were gorgeous. I'm green with envy of the ladies, that have lived in that era - walking around the streets in such lovely dresses, while we are wearing them only for prom.
Now, about the things I didn't like.
The plot didn't do much for me. There were some interesting moments, but overall it was pretty boring. I was not drawn into the story and most of the time I felt something was missing. And although I loved all of her gowns, what was Lorelei role in all of this? She was just there, showing off her lovely costumes. She didn't add anything to the story.

And what about Frankenstein's monster? They spent no more then 10 minutes on him. An absolute no for me! And dear Vicky was expecting an actual living, talking and thinking creature and when he didn't get it, he decided to kill it! YOU FREAKING PISS ME OFF!!!

I was expecting the movie to be a little bit more like the book. Huge mistake! It was still kind of good, but if I knew what I'm about to watch, I wouldn't have spent my money on it.

Have you watched this movie and what's your opinion about it? Please, share your thoughts in the comments!

Book Traveling Thursdays: Favorite Retelling (Blogmas Day 10)

The Book Traveling Thursdays meme is created by Danielle at Danielle’s Book Blog and Catia at TheGirlWhoReadTooMuch. Every week you choose a book for your blog post that fits the weekly theme (which you can find in the Goodreads group), you share why you chose that book and finally post picture of the original cover, the covers from your country, your favorite cover, and your least favorite cover.

This week’s topic "Because we're never too old to believe in Fairytales!" is all about our favorite retellings.

Well, I have read only four of these, so I don't have a lot of choices...I'm going to choose something a little bit different from a fairytale retelling. It's a book based on my favorite TV mini-series of all time.

"The 10th Kingdom" by Kathryn Wesley has everything in it. Prince Charming, Snow White, Rapunzel - you name it, the book has it. And it's a lot of fun. If you don't have a chance to read the book, watch the mini-series. It's awesome and it's only 10 episodes...although I wanted more and more.

Original/Favorite Cover:
Well, look at it! The color scheme, the font, the castle - everything is perfect!!!

Favorite Cover:
It's not so different from the original one. I love it!

Least Favorite Covers:
            1) Persian                                        2) German

What's with all that blue on the Persian cover??? If they've only made the buildings and mountain bigger it would have been one awesome cover.
On the right is the German cover...I think. It has nothing to do with the book. What were the publishers thinking...Were they thinking at all...

Have you read this book or watched the mini-series? What's your opinion about them? If you have a Book Traveling Thursdays blog post, share it in the comments. I would love to check it out :)

Top Ten Tuesday: New-Found Authors In 2015 (Blogmas Day 8)

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by the Broke and the Bookish.

This week's topic is all about the authors that we've read for the first time this year and I have plenty of those! Of course not all of them ended up in my favorites' list, but you know how it is. We can't like everything.

David Dalglish
"Shadowdance" became one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. This author may be old news for some of you, since "A Dance of Cloaks" came out in 2010. I'm looking forward to reading all of his works, because I predict that all of them will be amazing.

Laini Taylor
I really liked "Daughter of Smoke & Bone" trilogy. I've heard that we can expect something new by her next year and I'm really excited.

Peter Liney
"The Detainee" is one of the most unique dystopian books, that I've read. There are some really disturbing moments, so I can't guarantee that everybody will like it, but I loved it. I'm looking forward to reading more of his books.

John Wyndham
I loved "The Day of the Triffids", which is a really old science fiction novel. I don't usually like science fiction, but this one was really captivating. I would love to give a chance to other books by this author.

Carlos Ruiz Zafón
I was not blown away by his "Niebla" trilogy, but I've heard so amazing things about his adult books and I really like his writing style. I would love to read "The Cemetery of Forgotten Books". Hopefully they will live up to my expectations.

Alyson Richman
I love historical fiction and her books bring tears to my eyes, so I will definitely read some more of her works.

Brian Selznick
I was so surprised to find two of his books in the library and since I've heard only great things about them I just couldn't resist picking them up. They were amazing and now I want more.

Jenny Han
I don't think I need to explain why she is in this list...Do I?

Chris Mooney
I really hope that I'll have a chance to read more of his works, because "Remembering Sarah" was so well written and with such an unexpected ending, that it became one of my favorite mystery novels for this year.

Lisa Genova
If you want to cry your eyeballs out, "Still Alice" is definitely your book. I don't think I'll read any other works by this author, because I feel that I'll have too high expectations after this one.

Have you read any of these books/authors? Share your blog post about this topic or any other thoughts you have :)

Music Monday: Justin Bieber & Imany (Blogmas Day 7)

Music Monday is created by Lauren at Always Me. Every week you choose one or two songs to share, video of the songs and your thoughts on the songs (or any other thoughts you have). More for the rules and how to participate you can find here.

My first music pick for this week is Justin Bieber - "Sorry". I am not a fan of Justin as a person, but I can't deny that some of his songs are very catchy. This song has some hideous lyrics, but for some reason it's stuck in my head. I like the music and the lyrics video is just perfect (one of the reasons is that I don't have to watch Justin singing in it).

Justin Bieber - "Sorry"

My second choice is Imany vs Filatov & Karas - "Don't Be So Shy". I've never heard anything else by this artist, but this song I love. It's the perfect song for clubs, there is a little bit of trance sound in it. Not the perfect lyrics, but the music is heavenly. I can listen this song on repeat all day long.

Imany vs Filatov & Karas - "Don't Be So Shy"

I love music and finding new songs to love is something perfect, so if you've done Music Monday, share it with me. Any thoughts on the songs I shared?

The Book Courtship Tag (Blogmas Day 5)

I haven't done a tag since forever and this one popped up in my mail yesterday. Cristina from My Tiny Obsessions was so nice to tag everyone, which gives me the opportunity to answer all of the awesome questions in this tag.

The Book Courtship Tag was originally created by Leah from Hi I Love Books, so thank you Leah for this wonderful tag.

Phase 1 - Initial Attraction: A book that you bought because of the cover?

"The Left Hand of God" by Paul Hoffman

Well, technically I didn't buy this book only because of the cover, but it's the reason why I read the synopsis...and after that I watched the trailer...which lead to me buying it.

I must say that although a lot of people don't seem to like it, I adore it and have already read it twice. Since the third book came out yesterday (at least in my country it did), I'm planning on giving it another reread.

Phase 2 - First Impressions: A book that you got because of the summary?

"Warm Bodies" by Isaac Marion

This was the first zombie book that I've read. I was so intrigued by the synopsis and I've never heard anyone talking about it. I ended up loving it and now, when the second book is about to come out next year, I'm really excited.

Phase 3 - Sweet Talk: A book with great writing?

"Poison" by Chris Wooding

I was really drawn by the writing style in this book. I don't know if it's something spectacular - maybe it's not, but for some reason I loved it. It was like a very well written fairy-tale for me.

I have a short review for this book on Goodreads if you are interested to read it.

Phase 4 - First Date: A first book of a series which made you want to pick up the rest of the series?

"The Warded Man" by Peter V. Brett

Hands down! This is my favorite high fantasy book series of all time!

Funny fact: I took the first two books in the series from the library and before even finishing the first one I went out and bought all of the books that were published by far.

Phase 5 - Late Night Phone Calls: A book that kept you up all night?

I can hardly stay up all night reading, but If I have to choose a book to spend the night with, it's going to be this one. It's one of the most unique books that I've read...and I bought it because of the first sentence, which might sound weird for those who know what the first sentence is.
This book series is really popular now, but I bought it not knowing anything about it. Some people like it, others hate it...I just adore it.

Phase 6 - Always On My Mind: A book you could not stop thinking about?

"Harry Potter" series by J.K. Rowling

I'm sorry, but it's true! It's almost Christmas and me and my sister are currently rewatching the movies...and the illustrated edition came out this year...I mean, how can I think about anything else...

Phase 7 - Getting Physical: A book which you love the way it feels?

"Deep Water Thin Ice" by Kathy Shuker

I'm not into feeling my books, but when I received this one I couldn't stop touching it. It has like a velvety feel to it...i really can't even describe it, but I like it.

Phase 8 - Meeting The Parents: A book which you would recommend to your family and friends?

"Медальонът" by Галина Златарева

I'm really sorry I can't recommend this to any foreigners because the book has not been translated to any other language. Only Bulgarian edition is available. But I really recommend this to everyone around me. Even people who don't usually read books love this one.

Phase 9 - Thinking About The Future: A book or series you know you will reread many times in the future?

"Last Chance Saloon" by Marian Keyes

I've read this book 7 times already and I'm planning on rereading it again soon. If you haven't read any books written by Marian Keyes, you should. They are so much fun!!!

Phase 10 - Share The Love: Who do you tag?

I have no idea who's done this tag already, so if any of you has desire to do it, consider yourself tagged!
